Even though the Columbian Exchange did accelerate the trade of slaves, it introduced an important aspect in life during the 1600’s all the way up to today. It provided foods that would be otherwise inaccessible, and contributed to culture in the Americas. The Columbian Exchange was the best event in history due to its influence in globalization and Old World advancement. The first example of globalization is found during the Columbian Exchange. It made trade easier throughout the known world.
Positive effects of the Columbian Exchange was that it gave Europe and America new resources which in turn expanded their knowledge. The got new foods, animals, and materials they wouldn't otherwise have. The bad thing about the Columbian Exchange was that it spread disease between Europe and
I enjoyed reading your discussion post. The Columbian Exchange was considered to be unique as far as the valuable products, and then it was not so good because of the serious illness took over rapidly. Indians were really in danger at the time of the exchange, because smallpox was affecting them and causing them to decrease in population. Not only was smallpox a hender, but along with syphilis. On the other hand Europe had prosper by gaining medicine, crops, animals, and more.
However, the Columbian exchange didn’t always benefit both the Native Americans and the Europeans. Diseases were also exchanged, specifically to the Native Americans. Whether the exchanges were positive or negative, the Columbian exchange had a huge global effect, both immediately after the exchange and long-term. The Columbian exchange caused inflation in Europe, change in hunting habits of Native Americans, change in farming habits within Europe, and a large decrease of Native American populations.
In my opinion, I think the Columbian Exchange was positive for several reasons. One reason is that many important resources were brought over such as turnips, grapes, sugar cane, banana, and coffee bean. One of the important resource was the potato. The potato could be grown easily and could feed more people than grains, in which lead to a big population boom. Another reason is that livestock changed how Native Americas have lived.
My last positive example is that as new markets and products come into the world economy, new patterns of production, distribution, consumption. My four pieces of evidence is “The Columbian Exchange also had some
Effects of the Columbian Exchange in the Americas The Columbian Exchange was the transfer of resources and the migration of people between the New World and the Old World. It began when the Spaniards colonized the Americas in search of valuable resources after Columbus encountered the land in 1492. As a result of the interactions between the Americas, Europe, and Africa, the economy, demographics, and resources within the Americas improved. These interactions sparked innovation, as new resources were utilized to improve socioeconomics in the Americas, leading to advanced agriculture and experienced industries. The Columbian Exchange greatly reshaped the demography and economy of the Americas because it caused an increase in population and change
The Columbian Exchange was a major turning point in U.S history. Once Columbus arrived in America there were a lot of drastic changes. For example, plant and animal species decreased. Many people died because of diseases and a lot more. The point of this paragraph is to see the major effects the Columbian Exchange had on Europeans and Native Populations, and that disease played a huge part in it.
The Columbian Exchange: Positive or Negative? Christopher Columbus is credited with ‘discovering’ the Americas. After he ‘discovered’ them, the Old World and the New World began trading plants, animals, and diseases; otherwise known as the Columbian Exchange. The plants and animals were greatly beneficial, but the diseases were quite the opposite, killing many of the Native Americans.
The Columbian Exchange impacted almost every civilization in the world bringing fatal diseases that depopulated many cultures. However a wide variety of new crops
The Columbian Exchange was a widespread trade of all sorts of things. Like plants, animals, culture, technology and even more. The trade was between the Americans and Old world in the 15th and 16th century. The new contact between the global population circulated a wide variety of crops and livestock. Which supported increases in population which is a positive thing, but diseases killed a whole lot of people and diseases are a huge factor.
One more would even be the development of capitalism. The introduction of new species is a big one. Many plants and animals were brought over here and alot were brought over there. A Lot of the things that were exchanged were things that that other country did not have. So when we brought it over or it was brought here some of it gets put into the wild.
In terms of benefits the Columbian Exchange only positively affected the lives of the Europeans. They gained many things such as, crops, like maize and potatoes, land in the Americas, and slaves from Africa. On the other hand the negative impacts of the Columbian Exchange are the spread of disease, death, and slavery. In document 3b it states, “... an epidemic broke out, a sickness of pustules… very many people died of them, and many just starved to death; starvation reigned and no one took care of each other.”
The exchange offered great wealth to the New and Old Worlds and increased their quantities of resources. Also the spread of crop growing increased the demand for labor. This situation ensured the
Ancient civilizations had lots of technology that they used in order to survive. Ancient Rome has one of the strongest and massive empires. The ancient settlement was located on the Southern part of Europe that now is called Italy. The settlement began as a small town founded in the 753 B.C. by a tribe of Latins. Ancient Rome stretched from the Caspian Sea and the Red Sea in the East, across Northern Africa to Spain in the West, and to England in the North.
