Frederick Law Olmsted, an environmental designer noticed this “Every day of their lives they have seen thousands of their fellowmen, have met them face to face, have brushed against them, and yet have no experience of anything in common with them.” , (pg.12), this character of urban society troubled other genteel reformers and thought of construction of parks as recreation in urban life. Olmsted built the first park in United States in New York known as “Central Park” in 1858 with Calvert Vaux. The other major park during this period was Chicago’s Columbian Exposition built by Daniel H. Burnham in 1893. These parks, are compared by the author to prove, that the remedies offered by the parks were different, but the purpose of building them was the same.
In this situation I would not want to shut down any of my community based organizations. Knowing that the closure would lead to loss of jobs and affect the community as a whole. For starters I would look over our budget to see if there where any areas that I could possibly cut cost or do without. Going by a budget can also help you minimize risk for future obstacles. By eliminating unnecessary cost hopefully will increase funding so that layoffs will not be my only option.

Today, money has made many people believe that you need to have a lot of money to live a great, happy life. Charles Baxter’s book “There’s Something I Want You to Do” is composed of ten chapter, each focussing on one of the seven deadly sins and their vices. The chapter that stood out the most to me (and what this essay will focus on) was the first chapter, titled Bravery. Besides the fact it’s main character is a doctor which is what I’m going to school for, the emotions described in this chapter were very genuine. But, before getting into the specific contents of the chapter, the idea behind the seven deadly sins must first be understood.
Smart People is a contemporary play by Lydia R. Diamond that is set in Harvard University. It is directed by Chuck Smith. The play circulates around the lives of four racially diverse characters: Brian White, a cynical Harvard professor specializing in neuropsychiatry; Jackson Moore, a hot-headed surgical intern at Harvard Medical school; Ginny Yang, a shopaholic Harvard psychology professor; and Valerie Johnston, a tenacious actress and part-time research assistant. Obviously, all of the characters are intellectuals who deal with racial issues and quarrelsome romantic relationships. The cohesiveness that made the community great was crumbling, and we were left with a single common denominator - we were all lone Olim. Fast-forward a few years, and initiative after initiative to help rehabilitate the community was met with little success.

His comments, thoughts, and remarks were jotted down verbatim by Naomi and pieced together to create the one of a kind free verse poem. Nye assembled the phrases into individual stanza’s where they coherently flow to one another to illustrate the mind of a toddler. Wide ranges of emotions and personalities invoke the inner child and their curiosity. Overall, her son’s interpretations of his surroundings and understandings are represented in how the idioms expressed set the stage for intrusiveness, humor, and poetic devices to contribute to the overall meaning.
In the textbook “Looking Out Looking In” from the section communication in romantic relationships authors Ronald B. Adler and Russell F. Proctor II state that “Communication skills are vital to making romantic relationships successful” (p.333). I selected this subject matter on the account of I believe that I related to it the most.
