ZOMBIE MOVIE MOVIE is a comedy zombie horror script. It combines dark humor with the horrors of being attacked by zombies. Like the film SCREAM and SCARY MOVIE, the script appears to be an attempt to be a parody of the zombie genre. This certainly has merit. The idea of making a fake zombie movie in which real zombies attack is a fun idea.

There’s a smart story choice by using a contained setting at the movie set. The elements that make for a horror film are used: a contained setting, being cut off from communication, trapped and the sense of being stalked, as well as the threat of physical danger or death.

The goal of survival is clear. The stakes are high. The script follows a three-act structure.

While the idea is fun, the script would benefit from more development.

One of the main concerns about the presentation is the lack of a strong, proactive protagonist. Vanessa appears to be the main protagonist, yet she doesn’t drive the plot. The ensemble cast overshadows her. In fact, Vanessa is missing from pages 22 to page 27. Every script needs a strong, proactive hero or heroine. Granted, these types of films don’t have characters with strong depth, but overall the current characters would benefit from more development. They feel too artificial, making them act and sound cartoonish. Vanessa is presented as somewhat of a naïve woman. She’s not very bright. She doesn’t know she’s being sexual exploited by Mark and overall she doesn’t present as a character that audience finds endearing. The idea that she would go back for her purse feels unbelievable. It’s an action that feels more contrived just to get her alone to be attacked. Perhaps the idea is use her actions as a spoof to highlight the senseless activities and behaviors of characters in zombie films, but as executed, it doesn’t fully come across this
