In out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, Billie Jo is my favorite character because of the optimism she maintains to have while she struggles to survive a harsh life. Having grown up in the bleak area of the Oklahoma Panhandle, during the great depression, Billie Jo and her family encounter many economical problems. Near the middle of the story, Billie Jo’s father is thinking about quitting farming because of the drought and the severe dust storm, which unfortunately tears apart all of his crops. Billie Jo assures her father, “‘The farm won’t fail,’ I tell him.

All the girls at school like Jonathan because of his looks, and even Keisha’s friends like his looks. Jonathan tries to make moves on Keisha and after some time they begin to date. The short story "The Terrible Things" connects to the quote by Elie Wiesel in today's agenda because the quote says, " Those who kept silent yesterday will remain silent tomorrow." which can connect to the animals in the short story when they chose to stay silent as "The Terrible Things" took away all of the animals. This short story is allegory about the Holocaust, and Eve Bunting uses the forest and animals to make it accessible to children of any age. The story "The Terrible Things" is used to inform people about how much of an impact that the Holocaust and persecutions had on people of different races. Eve Bunting is able to make it accessible to everyone because he uses the words "The Terrible Things" to describe the horrible and traumatizing
One theme of Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse is that trials and tribulations strengthen us. The title of the novel relates to this theme for many reasons. Throughout the novel, Billie Jo becomes stronger through hardships. One example of this claim was Billie Jo’s struggle with the piano. In Hired Work it states, “Now I can’t hardly stay in the same room with one.”
Sonderkommandos who by Primo Levi standards were in a league with the SS officers, were the ones to put a stop to the horrors of Treblinka II, it made me question Levi’s testimony and question if his judgment was clouded by his opinion instead of facts. One thing that I know for sure is that Sonderkommandos may be viewed by many as perpetrators, but no one can question that they were heroes for having destroyed Treblinka II and stopping the killings of Jews by thousands. It’s essential to grasp the concept and understand the importance of The Shoah not only by a survivor or someone who was directly affected by The Shoah, but to learn about it by a second party. The reason it’s important to learn it from a second party is that they bring an outside look that is not affected by emotions or
Book Paper: 37 Words I had the opportunity to read the book “37 Words: Title IX and Fifty Years of Fighting Sex Discrimination,” by Sherry Boschert. In this book, Boschert presents the story of women working in higher education in the 1960s and fighting for gender equity. These women realized that their frustrating experiences at work were not isolated incidents but rather part of a larger system of discrimination against women. Their activism led to the passing of Title IX in 1972, which prohibited discrimination on the basis of gender in all schools receiving federal funding.
The memoir Night by elle wiesel was written in the year 1955 10 years after this happened to him. These chapters that I have read about are about his experience in multiple different camps one of them would be Auschwitz which was one of his better ones that he went to. He was in the camp Auschwitz for a little over three weeks where he got coffee in the morning and soup for lunch. But when he went to the original camp his mom and sisters were killed since they were women and children.
“ Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere. ”(Wiesel 119). In the book Night by Ellie Wiesel, he tells his story about living through the Holocaust and the horrible events that took place in Auschwitz. It is important to remember the holocaust not only to make sure it doesn't happen again but to also tell the story of those who lost their lives to ensure no one forgets the horrible acts that occurred. The more we stay silent the more we are accomplices to the hatred of the world we have the power to use our voice for good to stop the bad.

10 Best Dressed Hall of Fame Actors We appreciate the movies we are watching because of the story. However, we appreciate it more because of the persons who are playing the characters. However, it was not easy to be called as good, better or best actor especially when it comes to Hall of Fame. Actors need to put more a lot of effort for them to be known not just only in U.S. but also internationally.
