The book I am going to be doing is called Rifles for Watie by Harold Keith. I like this book, because it’s plot, I think, is astonishing and it makes you feel like you are learning about one of the soldiers of the civil war. The book leaves out a lot of details so I rate this book a 4.5.
This book is about a sixteen year old boy whose name is Jeff Bussey. Jeff has always wanted to join the military to get off of the farm he was raised on. The reason he wants to get off the farm is because he wants to help defend the Union against Colonel Watie. Jeff is excited to join the military, but learns that there is a lot more to war than he thought. There is death, sorrow, and hunger. Will Jeff survive long enough to go against Colonel Watie’s army?
