I am a detective with the Baltimore Police Department working on the Hae Min Lee murder case. I’m not the lead detective, I'm more of the underdog. This case is starting to screw with me, it’s so twisted and none of it makes sense. An 18 year old girl leaving school disappears without a trace and four weeks later shows up dead in Leakin Park. It’s not out of the ordinary to find bodies in Leakin Park, because it's Leakin Park. I’ve been on the force now for about 4 years, I was an officer for 2 until I switched over. In all my 6 years in law enforcement I’ve never seen a case quite like this. Since I haven’t been a detective too long I’m taking the backseat on this one. I wish I could be lead but the Captain is not confident about my work …show more content…
I think we start with DNA. We scan Haes body and her car for Don's DNA, along with Jay and Adnans. I was watching this documentary on the true crime network about a man who was accused of murder and found guilty, he was 20. This took place 20 years ago, he was accused of killing a 13 year old girl. People in prison don’t appreciate child killers, so they ganged up on him and killed him. 4 months after his death he was found not guilty. I don’t want this to happen to Adnan, but if this trial goes through and he’s found guilty it will. I am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure that Adnan is let off the hook so we can find who it really …show more content…
It was a family dinner that my niece was at who was Hae's friend. They all knew that I was waiting for DNA to come back from the lab. The whole table went silent. I picked up the phone, No DNA found for Adnan or Don. But they found Jay's DNA on Haes body. This is it, we got him, Adnan is free. Today starts the new trial, Adnan is still on trial due to Jay's testimony. The judge said due to the DNA Adnan will probably be found not guilty. Here we are in the courtroom, all of Haes family, Adnans, Jays, and my nieces is. We have requested a dual testimony from Adnan and Jay, they are going to have to give his story more than once because Jay changed for us every interview. If we can get that from Jay and Adnan to say his side twice and it stay the same, the jury will probably say Jay is guilty and Adnan is not guilty. It’s been 4 hours since the Jurors have been out in session, hopefully they find a verdict soon. Once they come back and we have a verdict it will either be great or awful. “In the case of Adnan and Jay VS Hae Min Lee, Jay has been found guilty of Conspiracy to murder, and murder in the first degree, Adnan Syed has been found Not Guilty on all counts”. The courtroom suddenly splits in two, some gasping and showing disbelief and disapproval and some showing relief feeling justice had been served. Adnan Syed was returned to his
