Career counseling has been considered for many people to clarify possible career paths. Many individuals face difficulties when selecting their career paths. The job demand along with the qualifications for jobs has intensified the availabilities of them. “Individuals often find themselves overwhelmed, struggle to plan their professional future in the face of the practically endless possibilities they can attempt to realize, and seek professional help in the quest for a college major or deciding on a career path that will fulfill them” (Gati & Levin, 2014). In selecting a job many consider trades schools, vocational schools, colleges/universities, and jobs that are within their level of interest. The department of Education has implemented Common Core State Standards, which will assist students to become more critical thinkers and gain skills that will make them qualified for job positions. Within the educational field, students are guided by their school counselors, as well as therapists that will guide them during their process. School Counselors follow the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model that assist students within the academic, social emotional, and career levels. “According to The College Board, this reform is necessary to highlight the lack of support students receive in their pursuit of higher educational goal attainment” (Morgan, Greenwaldt, & Gosselin, 2014).
