Common Sense by Thomas Paine In Thomas Paine's pamphlet “Common Sense” published in the year 1776 he talks about both democracy and monarchy. He wrote this pamphlet supporting independence from Great Britain to people in the Thirteen Colonies. Democracy is where one votes to choose his or her own laws in order to make their hometown a better place. Paine as well as myself similarly agrees to democracy in which he thinks it is a better solution and makes it easier for the people. Paine says that the people would be happier if they got to construct their own laws since they have to be the ones to follow them. In which I think it’s true because not a lot of people like following rules they don’t agree to whereas they do prefer to follow rules
