I am interested in the Communications/Marketing Assistant position for the International Co-op office at Simon Fraser University. The Communications/Marketing Assistant is a very exciting, yet critical role of supporting and inspiring students to be bold and ambitious in pursing international endeavours. Although I have not been on exchange myself, I am very well involved in student clubs and have a great understanding of the value of being open to new experiences for personal development. Through online promotions, I wrote content and generated visual material for Facebook, Instagram, as well as the event website to increase student awareness and excitement. Through offline promotions, I created paper airplane templates to be folded by the organizing committee team to not only establish the exploratory theme of the conference in a playful, tangible way, it was placed around campus to generate buzz; used as part of a booth activity to engage students; as well as employed in a preview video for promotional purposes. In addition to creating a marketing plan as well as ideating and executing online and offline marketing campaigns, I have also learned to critically assess the feasibility of marketing campaigns in terms of cost, effective timing, and student receptiveness. The skills of written and visual communication, event coordination, public relations, and critical thinking developed from this experience will help me produce fitting marketing material that cater to the student audience; establish an engaging presence during on-campus promotional activities; and identify opportunities for program
