Why is being in a community so important? Being in a community is so important because everyone needs a shoulder to lean on. Everyone needs a person they can talk about their problems to. In the story The Outsiders ,written by S.E Hinton, tells the story of a boy named Ponyboy who’s parents died in a car accident, who is having trouble fitting into the gang he is in.
I believe community is an important aspect to all our lives. Community builds character and, in some cases, defines who we are. There are different forms of community, such as “community standards” and “community action”, that ultimately bring individuals together whether they agree or disagree with one another. In his book Our Divided Political Heart, E.J. Dionne discusses what community is and its significance to society. Through my writing, I would like to specifically talk about “community action”, “community standards” and “community policing”.
They are affordable, close to home and Community oriented. Terry O’Banion tells his story of why he believes he is a community college student and states the benefits of a community college in his article “I Am a Community College Student,”. Community college is affordable and is a great opportunity for the middle class to get an education. They’re also close to home allowing students to keep their job and still have parental support. The benefit of being community oriented makes you feel comfortable with being at your school and makes socializing easy.
In addition, it has been influential to my life. Service does not just benefit the person doing the task, but it also impacts the individuals receiving the aid. Several people may not know it, but serving is something that can be done every day. I have shown qualities of service through school activities and my community. For instance, participating in Key Club and my church youth group for many years has kept me involved in serving.
One of the many actions that keep our nation going, that is often overlooked, is community service. Often times community service is required in school and in jobs encouraging people to be excited to help out. Other times, people
Community work is an essential part of social work. It has been defined as “the process of assisting people to improve their own communities by undertaking autonomous collective actions. ”(Twelvetrees, 2001) It entails getting the support of communities members to undertake projects or tasks that would be beneficial for the community. In community work, workers “operate as facilitators with people in relation to what those people decide to become involved with.
Can you imagine society without having police officers, correctional system, or courts? There would be constant crime happening all over the world twenty four seven. To incorporate criminal justice among society we are able to set boundaries in order to keep the peace between people. Criminal justice gives us the opportunity to fairly prosecute and punish those who break those boundaries. It also allows criminals to rehabilitate themselves through the correctional system to be able to contribute to society.
Furthermore, 100 community service hours should be a requirement for high school graduation. Since many teens already have a lot on their plates with homework and extracurricular activities they often put themselves first above helping others. Also, many teens spend their weekends locked up in their rooms or just watching tv all day, they could do something very productive with the time they are wasting. With this in mind, community service not only helps your community but it helps get students out of their houses.
Volunteering should be done intrinsically. Many students find community service so difficult, time consuming, and not enjoyable. Therefore, they tend to only complete the required hours without any essential effort. To call mandatory community service 'volunteering ' is a problem because then we begin to confuse the distinction between an activity that is willingly done and something that is obligatory and perhaps not always rewarding. Volunteering should be something you choose to do because you want to do it, not because somebody made you do it.
It is always a god way to support a community and as well meet new people, and help others. I feel that everyone should volunteer because you will gain a lot out of life by helping others. I am glad I got the chance to volunteer, because I felt better about myself knowing that I helped others, and I look forward toward more opportunities like this. I know that my experience as has been a wonderful opportunity to grow as a person, and I have made use of this to the best of my ability.

Fostering a tolerant, inclusive and friendly environment for special needs children by creating activities which will bring them closer to the community they live in. The activities to which they will participate outside school such as visits at museums or other activities will make children visible in the community and contribute to a better understanding in society of disability and the role of community in integrating them in their daily life.
Volunteering has been proven to reduce mischief in adolescents, depression, heart disease, and even stress. If a person were to feel unimportant, volunteering has a way of making them feel like an important role in society. For all ages, volunteering can benefit each age group. To adolescents, it can keep them out of trouble and teach them life lessons. For adults, it can improve their self-worth and overall happiness in life.
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
