By being involved in my community, I have learned many new things while serving. I try to be involved by doing community service in different types of activities in my area. I have volunteered at city events for holidays like Christmas, and outdoor events for children. I have also been to schools to help with carnivals and help children. Regularly, I go to my church once a month so I can go clean it, as well as help out with the some of the events that are held there. Community service does not sound appealing to everyone, but at the end of the day, it creates new experiences. Visiting schools is always fun because I get to see younger kids that are having fun and it brings me back memories from my elementary school days. One of my favorite memories was when I went to a carnival that was being held at a school near my home. My job was to run a game in a classroom and help out kids with the game and then reward them. Everyone would earn a prize, regardless of if they scored or not. It was a great feeling of seeing those faces light up when I said that they could still get a toy even after they did not to score. When cleaning, I have seen many new things that I usually do not get to see when I attend mass on Sundays. For example I did not know about the different charities that we help with by donating clothes and food. When walking around, I notice more posters for events happening and that lead me to start volunteering at those activities. It amazed me how I have been attending that church since I was very young, yet I did not know anyone.
