Comparison paragraphs using the CEC technique on The Most Dangerous Game and The Cask of Amontillado Violence is a crucial part of both The Most Dangerous Game and The Cask of Amontillado. The theme of these stories is murder, and, what is more, both murderers see nothing wrong with their actions. In The Cask of Amontillado, we know that Montresor is taking Fortunato to the catacombs to kill him. We see that Montresor’s intentions aren’t the ones he’s telling Fortunato from the beginning in the following quote: “he did not perceive that [Montresor’s] smile now was at the thought of his immolation”. In this quote, we see that Montresor’s intention is to kill Fortunato, rather than take him to taste the expensive wine.
Many times disparate people face similar situations, however each individual will handle it differently based on their values. Although the characters in the text and film are different, the themes and conflict are very similar.
President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was an important American figure in the time he was alive and in his presidency. However, it all came to a very violent end. The President was going from state to state trying to get people to vote for him in the next election. He was at a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. At around 12:30 in the afternoon, gunshots came from behind the cars and struck the president in the back of the head (“JFK Assassination”).
Dangerous game/amontillado rough draft Imagine that you are stranded on an island. Murder can be a powerful tool, life changing even, but why would people want to kill just for fun?
The Most Dangerous Game is my favorite story out of the two. Why do I like the The Most Dangerous Game better than the The Cask of Amontillado is because I personally think The Most Dangerous Game is more interesting in my opinion. “The Most Dangerous Game,” a short story by Richard Connell, dives into the discussion over whether animals have feelings, and if it is fine for them to be hunted for a human’s own entertainment. The main protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, an American author and hunter, and the antagonist, General Zaroff, a hunter as-well, have similar views in the concept of dominance and killing animals for their own pleasure. Throughout the events of the story, both characters, ironically, switch between being the ‘hunter’ and ‘huntee’ through the development of the story, and it explores the different strategies, thoughts, and feelings they experience in their situations. The theme of “The Most Dangerous Game” concentrates on the human tendency for superiority and power under any circumstance, no matter how inhumane. The theme is demonstrated through the beliefs and actions of the characters, along with the conception of the game.
Imagery play very strong in “The Cask of Amontillado” because you can visualize on how Montresor planned his avenge on his friend Fortunato. For example, when Montresor take Fortunato to the stone vault where his family was buried, it said “we could see the bones of the dead lying in large piles along the wells. The stones of the walls were wet and cold.” When the author describes the place where Montresor take his friend you can picture in your mind and say why would someone take their friend to place like that. It makes the scene more scary and creepy because Montresor took his friend to place where his family lived and die.
I believe that the title of the story “The Most Dangerous Game“ written by Richard Connell is linked to us as human beings, and that the title is saying that humans are the most dangerous game. For example in The Most Dangerous Game we learn that on the night Rainsford meets general Zaroff we get a lot of information about Zaroff 's ideal game to hunt. "I wanted the ideal animal to hunt," explained the general. "So I said, `What are the attributes of an ideal quarry? ' And the answer was, of course, `It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason."
Compare, “I ran” to “As I ran through the bleak forest, I could feel my heart thumping in my chest as if it were to jump right out of my body.” The second sentence has more details resulting in a more enjoyable story. Richard Connell, the author of The Most Dangerous Game, included many details to build suspense, relate to the characters, and even relate to events in the plot. The Most Dangerous Game is set on an island somewhere in the Caribbean Sea called Ship-Trap Island. The name of the story itself already gives of an eerie, mysterious connotation.
