Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of the 2000s. Though most people argue that Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback in NFL history, that is simply not true. Peyton Manning may not have equal playoff success to Tom Brady, however his regular season statistics are far superior. Peyton Manning was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. Manning turned the Colts’ history upside down by taking league-worst 3 win, 13 loss team to an immediate powerhouse with a 13-3 season in 1999. Manning took the worst team in the NFL and turned them into perennial contenders. Brady was drafted 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft. Brady has been the New England Patriots’ starting quarterback every season since 2001 when he replaced injured Drew Bledsoe. Playing better than the way he did in his youth and prime at nearly 40 years old, Brady will not come close to Manning’s impressive records for at least three seasons. Brady’s five Super Bowl championships, including Super Bowl LI in February 2017, are more than most NFL franchises have in their entire history. Manning has only won two Super Bowl championships, one with the Indianapolis Colts and one with the Denver Broncos. However, a Super Bowl win requires consistency and excellence out of an entire team’s roster over a 16 game regular season plus three in the postseason. In head to head meetings in the postseason, these two future Hall of Famers have made some incredible memories and classic games brewing their rivalry. Tom Brady’s Patriots have a surprisingly poor record against Peyton Manning’s Broncos teams, going only 6-8 in all of their matchups.
