Baby Feeding Feeding babies is a natural process that many mothers have experienced. There are common methods to feed newborn babies. These methods are breastfeeding and formula feeding. Although breastfeeding and formula feeding have the same function which is that they provide babies with milk, breastfeeding is much better than formula feeding. Breastfeeding is better than formula feeding because it has the sufficient elements that infants need, it is easy to digest, and it makes mothers more relaxed. First of all, breast milk is made for babies’ bodies, so it has the exact components that babies need (1). On the other hand, formula milk is produced from cows’ milk that lack some components. Mothers who breastfeed their babies provide them with components which are fats, water, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Additionally, enzymes help to improve babies’ immune system (1,3). Although formula milk might contain the same important components that breast milk has such as carbohydrate, protein and fat, it does not have hormones or enzymes that are helpful for babies’ immune system(1). …show more content…

The nutrients in breast milk are used effortlessly and absorbed very easily by babies’ bodies. However, formula milk takes more time to be digested and absorbed (1,4). It stays longer time in the stomach(1,4). This is because breast milk has more whey proteins, which are much easier for babies to digest.
