They don’t need fancy new sports car or a new TV because they much rather be out exploring nature. Both A Lesson Before Dying and Into the Wild use their settings to further their character’s conflicts. A Lesson Before Dying is set in pre-Civil Rights, segregated Southern America where casual Racism ruled everyday life. Exemplified by the existence of plantations and colored maids as well as comparisons drawn between the White and Colored Schools. These examples setup an environment that was hostile towards anyone who wasn’t white and kickstarted the main conflict. Although they are very different books, Walden, and Call of the Wild share a lot of the same ideas and beliefs. There were many characters in both books. In one book, the characters were smart, handy, and swift. In Call of the Wild, the characters were more tough, stern, and rough. The traits the characters showed were extremely different, but all of them had to survive in the wilderness sometimes using the same methods, and other time using completely different ones.

Into the wild whole summary Into the Wild is a memoir of Christopher McCandless, an American who died in a remote Alaskan forest in 1993 at the age of 22. The book describes how McCandless abandoned his family and his fortune to live off the land in the wild. It was a brave and risky decision, but McCandless had been planning it for several years before he actually carried it out. The book shows us how self-reliant McCandless was, even if he wasn’t very sensible with money or with people. After all, into the wild is not just a memoir; it’s also a story about human nature and how most people would react in similar circumstances.
