Students should think carefully about their choice of major if they want a good return on investment for their college degree. The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal and that they are guaranteed certain unalienable rights. In the Book Fahrenheit 451, Captain Beatty makes the assertion that people are rather made equal. This is why Beatty believes in the idea of burning the books, so that no man has more power or knowledge than another. In Beatty’s eyes, to be equal everyone must follow the same rules of the society they live in. However, I believe that everyone is created equal, and with the rights that everybody is given, you may choose for yourself how to act and how to succeed in society.
Waitstill and Martha Sharp were two highly rare individuals. I personally felt very touched and thankful for Martha and Waitstill Sharp because my grandfather was saved by a man with the same righteousness and bravery as the Sharps. Everybody has a right to freedom; people all have the right also to show how they express it. John F Kennedy believed freedom should not be limited to a victory. He said “we deserve today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom”(Kennedy 1). People should not express a victory over a loss more valuable than how they express freedom. During the Puritan times gender roles in the society were very anti-feminist. Women were required to act as housewives and do womanly duties such as cook, clean, and take care of their children. Women had very little freedom as far as their rights were concerned also. Puritan writers, Anne Bradstreet and Mary Rowlandson both experienced the struggle of the anti-feminist movement. From their writings we see that they both were against anti-feminism and they tried their best to abandon the whole idea.
