Marvel vs. DC Have you ever wondered when Marvel and DC became enemies? Have you ever wondered who makes the most movies? Or who makes the most money? Have you ever tried to figure out who the best of the best is when it comes to superheros? Marvel and DC have both been around for a very long time. Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson founded DC in 1934. They are owned by Warner Bros. They dominated comics until the biggest rival they ever had showed up in 1939. The Walt Disney Company recently acquired Marvel in 2009. Both companies now battle to be the best. The women of the Marvel series are evenly matched when it comes to being heroes and being strong supporting characters. Some of the main heroes being Black Widow, She-Hulk, and Captain Marvel all are portrayed as very self-sufficient women who don’t need to be saved because they’ll do it themselves. These women not only have amazing powers but also have excellent day jobs. Once Black Widow quit her job as an assassin for the Red Room she became a top shield agent. She-Hulk is a successful lawyer that prevents heroes from getting blamed for damages to the city, and that’s when she isn’t saving the world. Captain Marvel has a strong military background. DC is just as strong with women coverage portraying women like Black Canary, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman. While none of these women have jobs outside of saving the world, they are far from needing any help taking care of themselves. Black Canary is a martial arts queen and has a sonic scream that sends her enemies running. Batgirl is one of my favorites because she shows real strength in the face of adversity. She was shot and paralyzed by the Joker but didn’t let that stop her from helping save the world as a computer genius. Finally Wonder Woman, who has been a founder of almost every version of The Justice League, is an Amazonian princess with the personality of Superman and Batman put together. Away from having special powers you have women like Lois Lane, who sprints into the
