When it comes to love opposites tend to attract one another. These people that may appear to be polar opposites, but they also will have some similarities. These two combination scan create some very interesting romantic pairings. One of the most interesting couples to compare to one another is Hester Pryne and Author Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale and Hester can be polar opposites at times, but they can also be one with their views and emotions. Hester was a strong woman, while Dimmesdale was a weak and cowardly man. Hester took on all of the shame for having an affair and illegitimate child. While Dimmesdale got off scot free and still began to deteriorate. Hester had to deal from the very beginning the horrible stigma that was associated with the scarlet letter. Dimmesdale only admitted his sin when people felt that Hester was not such a horrible person and begun to accept her. Also Dimmesdale became weak because he kept the secret for seven years, but could not keep up the strength to keep the ruse up until after he left the colony. Hester still loved Dimmesdale and felt deeply for him. She even looked to him for support when she dealt with the high ranking officials in the colony, like wife would look to a husband.
