The Holocaust started in 1933 and lasted for about 12 years. It was a time were Europe was taken by a German dictator, Adolf Hitler, and his army. They tortured and forced millions of Jewish men, women, children, including Elie Wiesel and Anne Frank. They both encountered different lifestyles and outcomes but they also have somethings in common. Elie and Anne both went through the Holocaust with their families.
The Holocaust is a genocide that killed about six million Jews that started in January 1933 and lasted until May 1945. Many families were taken from their homes and put on cattle wagons, they were brought to various concentration camps like Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Buna. In the memoir, Night Elie Wiesel’s family is taken out of Sighet for a year and a half, with the struggle of living each day but luckily he survived. All were put through harsh conditions like being starved for days by not receiving all rations of the meals and only given a small portion of bread and soup. At these camps everyone was forced to march, if you fell behind or got weak you would be beaten or killed.
The Holocaust was a long tragedy that started in 1933 and lasted until 1945. During this time, millions of Jews were taken from their homes by German soldiers and moved to concentration camps. There many of the Jews were separated from their families tortured, and killed. Even though this was a hard time to live through there were some heroes who tried to save the Jews by hiding them or even making them fake passports to get away. One of the heroes was Sofka Skipwith who got fake paperwork from the French to help the Jews escape.
This stage started in the year 1942. In this stage of the Holocaust was when deportations of Jews throughout Europe began to take place. The Nazis systematically gathered the majority of Jews throughout Europe and transported them to concentration camps in Eastern Europe. Jews and other enemies of the Nazis were imprisoned in the concentration camps. From 1940 to end on Jews were systematically move to the death camps specifically built to exterminate the Jews.

According to “How did the Holocaust end?-Hitler’s Children” (2016) the Holocaust lasted for about 12 years, until 1945. In July 1944, Maidaneck, a camp in Poland, was liberated by the Soviets. It is also said that the Holocaust is a black mark on the 20th century history that many people wanted to forget.
