Monica Lising February 16, 2017 PreAP English Mrs. Daniel Fiction vs. Reality Ever wondered about living in a perfect society where nothing goes wrong? In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, the author explains how a “perfect” society is then seen in a different perspective of how awful it actually is. In relation, North Korea and the book are shown in ways with how diverse and correlated the two subjects are. The subjects are then compared and contrasted within the society that was created for and by the people of the population. To begin with, the qualities of equality reign the same in both views of North Korea and the setting of Anthem. In the perspective of the leader(s) controlling the entire community for their own good, to prevent further chaos and or a corrupt population is to keep things in order. It can get out of hand at times, but in order to unify the people things have to be done in a way not everyone may agree but can surely accomplish. For example, a famous world-known criminal called Billy The Kid was known for homicide in the mid-1800s. Had he only killed, what is said to be approximate, five people in this time period however, he is a great example amongst the topic of rebels in an old-fashioned society. He rebelled against who were thought to be the supreme eminence between the authoritarian and civilization. Although this individual did not make sense at first within this essay, the story that ties it together in comparison with Anthem and North Korea of slight rebellious people that had impacted the world in either a good and or bad way. As differences come upon the discussion, Rand created a fictional novel based on a dystopian civilization, while North Korea is based on a superior leader. As the two differentiate North Korea doesn’t have many equality rights, as for the fictional book has an equality right by naming each person by a category and number.
