In Frankenstein, you cannot grasp everything with just the book or movie; reading and watching both is best. With the book, you get a more detailed understanding of Frankenstein, but with the movie, it is much easier to understand and visualize what is happening. The movie Frankenstein can help you understand how the characters feel, how they are presented, and what terror they go through. The book Frankenstein conveys the creature as a giant nasty monster that does not deserve any sympathy, while the movie says otherwise in the book. Victor says, “to make the being of a gigantic stature, that is to say, about eight feet in height, and proportionably large.” (Pg. 44), and “His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath” (Pg. 47). These two quotes give the impression that the creature is a giant hideous being that nothing can stop. At the same time, the movie shows a more human-like being with a more normal-looking body. In the book, Caroline said, “My firmest hopes of future happiness were placed on the prospect of your union.” (Pg. 35) This quote shows that Caroline hoped for Victor and Elizabeth to one day marry, which can make it feel forced and adds much pressure on a relationship. In the book, Victor said, “agreed with my father that if my cousin would consent, the ceremony should take place in ten days” (Pg. 161). After a while, Victor then agreed to marry Elizabeth. These quotes can give the reader a sense of the marriage being forced, but in the movie, it shows them as happy as they can be when they are together. When I read the book, I got the sense that Victor and Elizabeth felt a little forced to marry, but after watching the movie, I learned that they loved one another and most likely would have ended up married either
