Compare And Contrast Grand Valley Vs Western

Grand Valley State University and Western Michigan University both have a lot of similar things in common. Although they are similar, they both have their differences. My decisions between Grand Valley and Western are based off of: location, my major, and food/meal. Grand Valleys location is about one hour from Western. From my house, Grand Valley is 2 hours away; compared to Western which is only an hour. Grand Valley has two different locations. One of the locations is in Allendale, MI and the other is in downtown Grand Rapids. Due to my allergies, Grand Rapids has more of a variety of food in the city, rather than Kalamazoo. For my first two years at Grand Valley, I will be studying at the main campus in Allendale, but my last two years will be at the downtown campus where I will be placed in a internship. There is more job opportunity in Grand Rapids due to the size rather than in Kalamazoo. At Western, I will have to enter the School of Social Work program and apply for it. Both campuses also include MSW and BSW. Both Western and Grand Valley are known for their social work programs, but Grand Valley’s Social Work program is right downtown. What makes it so important that it’s downtown is that it gives students better hob placement for their internships. It is required to have a certain amount of internship hours to be able to graduate from the Social Work program. A lot of the internships are at: hospitals, retirement facilities, working with troubled teens, or at an office. Unlike Western, which there is not much of a downtown setting where there are a lot of opportunities to get internships and jobs. Also, there are apartments for Grand Valley students downtown which could mean easier access to the downtown classes and
