Do you know why some countries have to use stone tools to get their resources, while others use VR or games to simulate living a country, or civilization where you have to use stone tools? The technology disparity between countries is caused because of a country’s climate and geographical location. A country’s geography controls their agriculture and what animals they have. Those two geography dependencies also affect either a civilization can have steel, for weapons and tools, or germs for illnesses and plagues.

The very first part of causing this gap in civilizations’ technology, is agriculture. Some plants are better, more fulfilling, and healthier than others. Some crops can last in all seasons, or just one. Some crops also grow faster than others, or give bigger portions out. One crop that lasts in all seasons, is the potato. The potato is a hardy food that grows underground. Due to the fact that it grows underground, it doesn’t need much sun, and it’s covered from harsh weather. On the other hand, wheat can only grow during warm or hot seasons. If wheat were to grow in a time like winter, the frost would kill the wheat. So places that grow wheat had a good food source that can only grow during warm times of the year. People who could grow potatoes had a good food source year round. Sago, was a crop that wasn’t able to be tameable though.
