I read the book “Hatchet” and in the book I learned a lot about the main character Brian a brave 14 year old boy who crash landed in the forest wilderness of Canada. In this first LA performance task, I am told to compare Brian to any main character from the stories we have read so far, however we have also been given the option to compare him to ourselves. I will be comparing Brian from “Hatchet” to Katniss Everdeen the brave candidate of district 12 to play in the annual Hunger Games from the book “The Hunger Games”. Katniss’s father died in a mine explosion; however, before he died he was teaching Katniss how to shoot a bow and a arrow. Katniss is now using this skill to hunt in the woods (which is forbidden and you can be punished by death) to supply for her family. This shows that Katniss is very brave. Katniss loves her sister Prim every much, in fact so much that Prim was chosen to go play in the annual Hunger Games to represent District 12 and Katniss was so brave and bold she volunteered herself because she knew Prim would not survive a second in the Hungers Games. This shows that Katniss is very bold and loves her family very much. Not only does personalities describe Katniss her physical appearances also describe her. Katniss is usually in torn up clothes that are not clean, she puts her hair in a ponytail so that way it does not get in the way of her arrows. Katniss is not extra tall or particularly short, she is the average height for a girl her age. She has tan skin color and most obviously she is female. Katniss is shaped by the people and rules that apply to her. Two characters that are influential to Katniss include: Her father, her best friend Gabe and her beloved sister Prim.
