The speeches ``I have a dream’’ about equality for all races by Martin Luther King.Jr and the speech “Keep memory alive’’ a man speaking about how we shouldnt stay silent after and burning the lolcost tragic event by Elie Wiesel are both overall good speeches that are great at using rhetorical techniques to persuade their audience to prove their point. Both speeches use pathos frequently to make the audience feel disheartened by situations and guilt. The speech Martin Luther king.jr uses is pathos and repetition in his speech. He uses and talks about how African americans were treated unfairly, one example of pathos from the speech says’’One hundred years later the Negro was still not free. One hundred years later the life of the Negro was still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and chains of discrimination’’ He uses strong words like discrimination and crippled which makes the listener feel a scene of guilt and regret. The speech he made was effective in only one way, which is that we should not forget history and that it can repeat if we forget the events. He talks about a boy that says “What have you done with my future? What have you done for your life?” which makes the listener think about what they have done for the future of children and that makes you wonder what you're gonna do for your life. This example shows pathos. A example for repetition is when points out what he remembers when his son ask if the holocaust was real.In his speech he says” how naive we were, that the world did know and remain silent” he is saying that when we stay silence when we know something bad is happening we are just as bad as the ones doing a bad deed and how we should always take a side.
