The Mayan, Aztecs, and the Inca were all ancient empires in South America. They are the same in many ways because of this. But they are also very different. People often only see how they are the same but not how they are different. There are actually more differences between them than there are similarities. Although the Mayans, the Aztecs, and the Inca copied and took things from each other, they changed most of it. Because of that there is some confusion about if they’re really different. But they are different empires from different points in time. There are many differences but I can’t tell about all of them. I will tell you about their Economy, their Religion, and their Government. The economy of these three empires was very different. In the Mayan economy they ate chocolate, avocados, guacamole, poc chuc, michelada, and corn tortillas. They farmed in the jungle using the slash and burn tecknek, in the mountains by building farms on small ridges, and in the swaps by making mud islands. Each city had it’s own king and laws. Sometimes they even had their own names for gods. Some Mayan kings were K'inich Popol Hol, K’ak’ Joplaj Chan K’awiil, Calakmul, Tajoom Uk’ab’ K’ak’, Wamaw K’awiil, K’inich B’aaknal Chaak, K’inich Ich’aak Chapat, Muwaan Mat, K’inich Kan B’alam II and K’inich. The aztec government was all together and not split apart. Some Aztec kings were Acamapichtli, Huitzilihuitl, Chimalpopoca, Itzcoatl, Moctezuma Ilhuicamina, Axayácatl. The Inca government was called Tawantinsuyu. They only had one ruler who was called the Sapa Inca. Sapa Inca means “sole ruler”.
