The French and American Revolutions will go down as two of the most world changing revolutions of all time. These revolutions came at a cost though. In the French Revolution around 40,000 people died including men and women . In the American Revolution over 25,000 revolutionary soldiers died (Rogoway). “A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall” (Guevara). The revolutionaries of The French and American Revolutions took these words personally, seriously, and lived by them when they took action over their rulers and government. Both King George III and King Louis XVI suffered through debt during their times of ruling and were unsuccessful with their solutions to that debt. The debt suffered by both King George III and King Louis XVI came in part by war. For example, “The Seven Years' War lasted three years into George's reign. The Treaty of Paris ended the costly war, but Great Britain's success came at a cost. The national debt nearly doubled” (“George III”). King George III suffered through massive debt because of his country’s war and although they won, it wasn’t clear how much they really succeeded with such malignant debt hanging over their heads. King Louis XVI was also dealing with debt from the Seven Years’ War, France’s contribution to the American Revolution, and the cost of domestic buildings of France. For example, both revolutions had kings that dealt with massive debt but were still very avid leaders. So all in all, these two revolutions that are very alike in many ways. These two revolutions will go down as two of the most impactful revolutions of all time because of the basic and extremely important rights they gave people all over the world. The revolutions brought these rights into the modern day world by making a these rights the foundation for all men to live freely by and will continue to affect our decisions in the future to avoid conflict and even war. It’s important to know these two revolutions are alike because that shows that revolutions start because of similar reasons and these reasons, like unfairly treating a specific group of people possibly being a majority, are things that we need to stay away from today to avoid further bloodshed and revolts. Future revolutionaries can use the information from these two revolutions to know what to do right and what to do to stay away from the wrong that was committed during revolts and major actions during these revolutions.
