College Evaluation: Liberty and Longwood Most high school students change their minds, many times, about their future and what profession they want to peruse. Before they continue with their profession, they must choose a college to attend. Factors that should be taken into consideration including: Does the college offer a degree in my desired major? Is the college in an ideal location? Can I afford to attend this college? Etc. Every college will have strengths and weaknesses; there is no such thing as a perfect college. I am searching to pursue a profession in psychology and Longwood or Liberty University will help me work towards my goal. The estimated total cost for me to attend this university is $39,644, including personal expenses and other required material. The cost for tuition and fees is $23,020 and followed by $9,306 for room and board. The transportation expense is $2,296 and books and supplies are $1,700. In the total estimated cost they took into consideration what personal expenses would cost, which is estimated to be $3,322. Another splendid aspect about my first choice college is that they offer a $14,138 financial aid package. My current GPA and SAT scores make me likely eligible to be able to attend Liberty University. The average accepted sore for getting into the college are the following: 529 for the math, 540 for reading, and 522 for writing. Twenty- one percent of the people that apply have been accepted which shows that Liberty limits the number of applicants they accept. One problem that I have with Liberty is that the location is so far away, about two hours from where I live. I also feel that Liberty is an overly strict school; I realize that it is a Christian college and I strongly believe in enforcing a disciplined education and also good behavioral skills but there is a point where too strict comes into effect. Liberty’s class size is also larger than I would enjoy for it to be. Longwood has the perfect class size of 21, but they do not expect a lot from their students academically. This is also supported by their seventy- three percent acceptance rate. My main concern with Longwood is that they do not spend as much time as Liberty worshipping God. It is also a public school which is part of the reason that they are not a Christian based college, but I don’t think that Longwood is the ideal university when worship is not
