In the story of Hamlet, the king is murdered by his brother, Claudius. In the modern day version, these brothers are portrayed as lions named Mufasa and Scar. Though the original story of Hamlet doesn’t show much of who the king was, the story is centered mainly around him and his son. In the Lion King, it shows Mufasa alive and gives us more about his character than the original. The Lion King also shows the death of Mufasa and how Scar murdered him.
Polonius Vs. Zazu When comparing and contrasting William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King the characters have similiar levels of comparison. Both Hamlet and the Lion King are stories centered around the following elements; truth, deception, revenge, romance, and the circle of life. The characters in both of the stories are constantly working to find their place in the circle of life throughout the story.
The Lion King The Lion King and the story of Osiris are very similar. Just like in the story of The Lion King, Osiris is the ruler of the land, with his wife by his side, and an evil brother, named Set. Set tricks his brother into getting into a chest, for whoever fits it perfectly wins. Of course the chest fits Osiris, and Set sends him off into The Nile River, locked in the chest. When Osiris’ wife, Iris, sees this, Set cuts him up into 14 pieces.

Hamlet, the renowned play written by William Shakespeare, tells the story of a boy who loses his father and faces hardship triggered by his uncle during the time of mourning. The Lion King, the famous Disney book, movie, and play, tells the same story in a different setting with different characters. Although Hamlet and Simba share many similarities, such as their relationships with their fathers and being exiled by their devious uncles, they also have differences in relation to their interactions with other characters in their stories. Hamlet and Simba share a similar relationship with their fathers.
In comparison to Scar purely wanting to rule, Claudius was after Gertrude’s love, and to achieve that he plotted the death of King Hamlet. Claudius was known around the kingdom as innocent, and showed no sign of remorse, whereas Scar was forever known as an evil presence. The overall message from both texts about power and

In Hamlet, a boy named Hamlet finds out his father, the king, dies due to his brother Claudius. Hamlet sets out a revenge plan to kill Claudius after his fathers ghosts insist on taking revenge for him. While in the Lion King , Simba thinks he killed his father Mufsa who is the king, so he leaves his kingdom disappearing for a long time. To his surprise Mufsa’s brother scar actually killed Simba’s father, simba finds out after he comes back and tries to get his throne back and in order to do that he had to result in killing Scar.
The Lion King How many times have we heard about the Shakespeare 's influence? Because of the particular and flawless works of William Shakespeare, it is not surprising that why he is one of the most influential person in the literary society for more than century. Undoubtedly, there are many people willing to let their heart be broken and cry for his work over and over again. Although his body was consumed by the time, his name and spirit are still breathing in our world through the poetry, literature, book or even movie. It can be found Shakespeare 's influence in every entertainment industry, especially his shortest and bloodiest tragedy like 'Macbeth ', which is the most famous one.
It is no secret that the mothers mentioned in the story Hamlet by Shakespeare and the Disney movie The Lion King are not the most important characters. However, these women have an important yet subtle influence on the plot and their sons. They give love to their offspring, whether unconditionally or occasionally. Queen Gertrude and Queen Sarabi have very blatant similarities, like their reigning status and their sons, but they also have strong differences, like how they react in unfavorable situations, and how they take care of their responsibilities.
In more ways than one the world of Disney has somewhat interacted in the world of Shakespeare. Hamlet and The Lion King ,all though years apart in the making, have been drafted to be almost similar with little to no differences. They are similar in the ways of the plot and the moral background, but different as far as the ending transition of Hamlet and Simba are combined. The plot of Hamlet and The Lion King alike are about an Uncle to the King, or a heir next in line to the throne trying to gain power. Thus including some of the main characters being the King, the Queen, the King and Queen’s son, the son’s first love, his first loves’ father, two of the son’s instigating friends, and of course the son’s one and only true friend.
This first seed of deception planted by the new king causes almost the entire chain of events that take place in the Tragedy Hamlet to happen. All in all Claudius’s deception plays a major role in the the layout and plot of Hamlet. Claudius is a deceptive power hungry foil character in this Shakespeare play who has a great influence on the of the actions and events that led to the climax and falling action of the play.
Hamlet and Lion King Hamlet and the movie Lion King have many similarities. They are composed of the same storyline and have many of the same symbolisms. They both are about a royal family and the betrayal of the King 's death by their brother. It also holds in common the son and how he seeks revenge upon his father’s death. In comparing Hamlet and Lion King there are many differences too.
This is what causes Hamlet to compromise his love for Ophelia, as she is stunned and disrespected by his attitude. Similarly, Claudius wanted to gain power, and uses his ambitious attitude to murder his brother, quickly marry his widow, and take the throne himself. Despite their similar nature the two men are driven by different goals. Claudius works to gain and keep power, while Hamlet is working to seek revenge for his father. The true differentiating character between the effectiveness of Hamlet and Claudius’ leadership is their individual resilience. Claudius is ruthless in his attacks towards Hamlet; he does not become discouraged at any point. Hamlet’s emotions deteriorate leading up to the end of the play, and with it goes his resilience. Claudius’ brutality and wisdom combine to create a tough and determined leader, while Hamlet’s emotions often create barriers for him in his quest for what he wants. Claudius’ cold-hearted techniques are what truly make him a better leader than Hamlet.
