Even though Marching band and soccer both compete on fields they do maintain a major difference on the amount of time, how they gain earn points and the times they compete. In marching band when they are competing they are judged on their sound, rhythm, formation, visuals and their marching technique. The judges usually give fifteen minutes to march on the field set up the percussion section, perform their show and get off the field with all their equipment. Points will be deducted if the marching band is not completely off the field by the time the clocks runs out. The marching band is also judged by sections, according to the instruments that they play, and the drum major(s) are judged individually on the consistency of their hands and beat.
