Jeannette 's relationship with her siblings is a kind and close relationship. For example, when they lived in Phoenix she was always did everything with Brain. “The Other Family” by Himani Bannerji, can teach people a life lesson about appreciating the culture they come from and that they should stay true to who they are regardless of what others think is right. When the mom saw the picture, she was very disappointed because the picture showed a white family, not theirs. “The Frontiersmen” was written by Allan W. Eckert in 1967. It is a narrative historical fiction story. The book is full of excitement and adventure chronicling the relationship between the American frontiersman and the Native Americans. Mr. Eckert did research for seven years, hiking around the United States. He learned to live off the land and find out all that he could about wildlife and survival during difficult circumstances.
Bharati and Mira both have been living in the U.S. for 35 years and America is changing the way Bharati views her Indian culture and the world. She feels like she can express herself and be herself, Mira still stays true to her Indian culture. Gandhi convinced the Indians that he could get them their independence. They would get their independence long as they didn't cooperate. All three men fought peacefully for equality, whether it was for India’s freedom from the British empire, emancipation from apartheid laws that prohibited black Africans from being truly free, or liberation from Jim Crow laws to keep black Americans inferior to whites.
In "Two Way to Belong in America", a personal essay by Bharati Mukherjee, she talks about the cultural differences between her and her sister, Mira. Throughout the essay, Baharati explains their thoughts and opinions when they first started living in America; describing their similarities and differences. Although both sisters shared many similar values they found themselves on different sides when it came to debating over immigration and citizenship.
