The King Cake tradition in Louisiana is thought to have been brought to New Orleans from France in 1870. The Mardi Gras or ¨Carnival in Mexico¨ holiday begins on February 13th or "Epiphany." Epiphany comes from a Greek word that means "to show. "Mardi Gras Day has a moveable date and may occur on any Tuesday from February 3rd to March 9th.
When comparing Sam Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, we can see that there are some similarities and differences between the men. Perhaps the most notable relation this group has, is that they were all formal presidents and had some type of power or ownership. The qualities of all four men are often seen as opposed to each other. One similarity for example, with George Washington and Thomas Jefferson was that they were prosperous Virginian plantation owners and held slaves. Jefferson and Adams were both well educated people and knew about the law.

They are both very important documents that have similarities and differences. Some of the main things the Articles of Confederation and the U.S. Constitution have in common is that they addressed the needs of its constituencies.
I like how you stated there were other ways the Americans could of got Britain to treat them better. The Sons of Liberty were willing to act in non-peaceful protest; however, when American’s made the colonists the constitution they made sure to only allow peaceful protest. Only allowing peaceful protests is essential, but I almost think it is a little hypocritical. Even though the Boston Tea Party fits under terrorism the colonist definitely got their point
Pearl Harbor and the attacks on the world trade centers on September 11, 2001 also known as 9/11 were both events where thousands of innocent lives were taken at the hands of foreign attackers that entered our country. In both of these events thousands of lives were ended by foreign terrorists. Pearl Harbor and the attacks on 9/11 are both very symbolic in our nation’s history. First, on December 7, 1941 one the of the nation’s largest naval bases stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii called Pearl Harbor was attacked by surprise by the Japanese in hope of eliminating a large amount of our fleets so Japan could expand. The Japanese destroyed almost 20 American naval vessels, including eight huge battleships, and more than 300 airplanes.

We celebrate 4th of July because it was the day the United states of America became an independent nation. We also celebrate that day because it was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. Everyone in America is blessed. We have freedom because of the military.
The American Revolution set the background for the modern nation state as well as molding the modern Army. Both countries have many differences and similarities, ranging from the individuals fighting these wars to tactics and strategies they used to win. These countries shared the same idea of freedom and independence, the difference is they used different methods of accomplishing this goal. It’s difficult to pin point which country chose the best method, but we compare some of the facts and take a deeper look as to what was transpiring in both of these Revolutions. In the 18th Century the main problem the Army had was manpower.
The American and French Revolution are both remembered in history as two major changes that would shape what we know today. Every child learns of the American Revolution at least once in their lives. Both these revolutions had the similar cause, effects, and stages that resulted or started them. Just like in every warring country, it is inevitable that there will be some change that occurs whether it be for the better or for worse. Although the American and French revolutions were very similar in the actions, there were many differences leading them into ultimately different paths and states of rest.
What to the Slave is the Fourth of July Introduction The 4th of July is an important day in American history it represents freedom and is usually associated with fireworks, parades, alcohol, and concerts. Those activities more or less represent today’s culture. When Fredrick Douglass made his speech he talked about American values such as liberty, citizenship, and freedom. The irony of this speech was that at the time white Americans in the south were still participating in slave trading.
July 4, 1776, the day Congress voted in favor of the Declaration of Independence, is remembered to this day as the “birth of American Independence”. It was deemed a Federal Holiday in the United States in 1941. Over the past century, the holiday became a significant day of patriotism. Activities such as parades, barbeques, and fireworks have become Independence Day traditions in many states all over the country. Fireworks were the earliest form of 4th of July celebration, dating back to the first Independence Day in 1777 during the Revolutionary War.
“Fourth of July” Essay “Treat others how you want to be treated” (Golden Rule). “The Fourth of July”, by Audre Lorde, is about when a young girl (Lorde) experiences discrimination on her family’s vacation to Washington DC. Lorde encounters the obstacle of prejudice throughout the essay making her feel ashamed of who she was which shows that prejudice has a negative effect on everyone. To support this, the way people treated Lorde’s family made Lorde feel ashamed. To demonstrate, she explains, “The nuns had given her back her deposit in private, explaining to her class, all of whom were white, except Phyllis, would be staying in a hotel where Phyllis ‘would not be happy’, meaning, Daddy explained to her, also in private, that they did not rent rooms to Negroes” (240).
Frederick Douglass is by far one of the most influential African American abolitionists in American history. He published many works which discussed and showcased his life as a slave. Two of these pieces include, “My Bondage and My Freedom” and the speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”. Both pieces play a role in the factors leading up to the civil war. “My Bondage and My Freedom” gives the readers a first look into many of Douglass’ experiences, while, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July” capitalizes on the irony of the situation.
In Frederick Douglass’s The Meaning of Fourth of July for the Negro, he exposes the hypocrisy and iniquity that is infused into considerably one of the most prolific American moments in history known as The Fourth of July. Douglass, who was a former slave that eventually reached freedom, was invited to speak about what Fourth of July meant for the black population within America. Although Douglass provided much gratitude to the Founding Fathers for their courage and ability to oppose oppressive systems, he criticizes the American country for its involvement within slavery. Slavery served as the foundation that constructed America, allowing for it fuel the economy and develop into a cultural and political norm within society.
