The Patriot and 1776
The films The Patriot and 1776 are both films made to depict what the Revolutionary War and the making of the Declaration went through. They both have many similarities, yet are so different. In The Patriot it is about family and how to live to help them. But in 1776 it's about making the Declaration of Independence and how difficult it was to be someone back then. It goes in depth to try to depict what happened. Meanwhile in both movies the Revolutionary War is going on.
The films 1776 and The Patriot both take place in 1776, when the American Revolutionary War was going on. The characters in both films differentiate by Benjamin Martin In The Patriot being a father and fighting for his family in the actual war. But in 1776 the congress is just trying to agree with the Declaration of Independence to help this dreadful war. In the movie 1776 the film doesn’t show how life is for the townspeople just the Second Continental Congress deciding about Independence. In the The Patriot it does show what happened to townspeople like them living in poverty and being treated unfairly. Though both films have some inaccuracies, The Patriot has been proven to have many historical inaccuracies, many more than 1776. For example, the townspeople burning in a church by the British incorrect. Now 1776 is not as inaccurate, but the writers had to make some stuff up to try and imagine what it was actually like for them to create the Declaration. So they only did that because there were no facts about what actually happened
