Clash of the Comparisons
The first movie and the second movie have many similarities and differences. Both of the movies have Kalabus as the main antagonist. Another Similarity between the two movies is that Perseus gets the moon sword from the gods. One difference between the two movies is that in the first movie Perseus falls in love with Andromeda although Perseus falls in love with Io in the second movie. Another difference between the two movies was that Thetus was a Goddess but in the second movie she was not a Goddess.The next similarity between the two movies is that Perseus uses Pegasus to travel. The first difference between the movie and book was that King Acrisius sent Danae in a coffin with Perseus and sent them into the ocean in the movie but in the book Danae was locked in a tower. The first similarity between the movie and book was that they were both based in Jappa. The second similarity between the movie and book was that they both included Perseus killing the Kraken/Sea Serpent with Medusa’s head. The second difference between the first movie and the book is that in the movie Perseus traveled using Pegasus but in the book Perseus traveled using winged sandals. Another difference between the first movie and the book is that Perseus froze Atlas in the book but in the movie he didn’t even meet Atlas. The first difference between the book and second movie is that Hades releases the Furies on the mortals when they take down Zeus’ statue in the movie but in the story that does not happen at all. The first similarity between the book and the second movie is that Acrisius was the king of Argos in either stories. Another difference between the book and the story is that Danae was King Acrisius’ daughter in the book but in the movie she was king Acrisius’ wife. The third difference between the book and the movie is that Perseus fights off giant Scorpions in the movie but in the book he does not. In the book Perseus goes to get the head of Medusa because he needed to get a gift for a princess so that he could marry her but it was just a clever plan by Polydectes, but in the movie the reason he went to get Medusa’s head was to get rid of the Kraken that was going to destroy Argos. Another similarity between the book and the movie is that Perseus got gifts from the gods to use on his quest to slay Medusa.
