When beginning the discussion of what interior and exterior design elements to use for the overall scheme of the Phoenix Center, camp, and equine facility, many aspects were put into consideration. The overall need for a comfortable and home-like atmosphere was a high priority, while still tying in new and unique aspects to make the center distinctive. To stay near to the clients wants, curves were added and implemented into as many forms that seemed suitable for the conventionality of that certain building. Materials were then analyzed and chosen to integrate a traditional look while adding modern elements as well. The materials chosen for the overall vicinity are so important because they can make the atmosphere effect the campers and workers in a negative or positive way. The final materials that our team agreed on included wood, glass, steel, and limestone that was left of the site. These were agreed upon because of the simplistic yet diverse contrast. Not all the buildings on the site contain all of the materials together, however, it ensures that the overall design of the site will flow well together. Since the limestone was left on the site from previous construction, it is economic …show more content…
This gives the children a sense that they are within nature and truly sleeping above the trees. Also, the glass and wood alternates where curves are present, because of the minimal bendability of the two materials. The structure that holds up the form, other than the actual tree, is wood and has steel connections to hold them together. However, the other parts of the site include all four elements together, and were inspired by Lake Flato in San Antonio, Texas. The reason that Lake Flato inspired our team is because their site has beautiful, simplistic and comfortable designs which is what we were trying to accomplish at the Phoenix Center, camp and the equine
