POCAHONTAS VS. THE NEW WORLD
The Jamestown settlement was the first settlement in the new world. Pocahontas and John Smith were two important people in the making of Jamestown. And to show their role in history, two movies have been made. The first movie “Walt Disney’s Pocahontas” and the second movie is “The New World”. Both showed the journey of the colonists and the epic love story of Pocahontas and John Smith. But the New World did just a little better of a job at being more historically accurate.

In the end however, he returned back to England due to his injuries. On the other hand, in the movie “The New World” it showed John Smith and Pocahontas falling in love and they faced many difficulties but in the end he was injured… causing him to go back home to England.

Whereas in “The New World”, it showed how they struggled and how many people died from disease and lack of food. Another thing that was very different was how the hero and his lover met. In history, they met when John Smith came to the chief of Powhatan (Pocahontas father) to trade marbles with food which was shown exactly in “The New World”. But in “Pocahontas” they met at the waterfall which is not historically accurate. So all the points together prove that the movie “The New World” is more
