Compare and Contrast

Rainsford, a hunter, is sailing with Whitney, across the seas looking for big game to hunt throughout the amazon. Whitney goes to sleep on the ship, when soon after Rainsford falls off the ship near an island. There on the island lives Zaroff and Ivan, the sole proprietors of the island living in a Palatial Chateau with only a pack of dogs. Zaroff tells rainsford as the story progresses, that he no longer hunts animals but actually hunts humans. Zaroff states he plans to hunt Rainsford, if Rainsford does not agree to this hunt he will have to go through Ivans undescribed ways.
Rainsford, a world renowned hunter, has the most experience in hunting large game, similarly General Zaroff has a lot of experience in hunting around the world and he had been hunting since he was a child, killing his first animal when he was only five years old. Rainsford comes from New York where he has developed a highly civilized tone likewise General Zaroff being a military man, has also developed a civil tone while discussing the act of hunting and killing humans. Zaroff on the other hand cares for no one except for his overwhelming need to hunt. Rainsford is a skilled hunter having past experiences with where he has been and what he can do to survive the three terrifying nights. Zaroff otherwise has experience in hunting, but his knowledge stays in the lay of the land, he has lived there for a while by what he has said with context clues. Rainsford is sickened and hates Zaroff, because he believes Zaroff is insane for wanting to hunt humans, saying that it is ‘murder’. Zaroff respects Rainsford throughout the whole book saying how impressed Rainsford for how well he is able to survive in unknown
