There are many ways to write a good story; compelling characters, vividness, and conflicts. Sadly, there are also many ways to write a terrible story for instance; flat characters, unimaginative imagery, unrelatable material, and an uncompelling conflict. There are two types of character flat characters, characters that have not been fleshed out, and round characters, who are characters that have developed in characters that the reader care about. Vividness is a tool that many writers use to engage an audience usually works because the reader could imagine the exact scenario that the character is in. If a writer has a weak conflict the story get boring, but if the story has too many conflicts the story would be to confusing. In the books Streams To The River, Rivers To The Sea and Touching Spirit Bear are two different books, and Streams To The River, Rivers To The Sea has a less compelling story than Touching Spirit Bear. Characters are always what are important in books, if there are no characters there is no story, but in Touching Spirit Bear and Streams To The River, Rivers To The Sea the two ways that authors wrote their characters are very different. The protagonists of the books are Cole Mathews from Touching Spirit Bear, and Sacagawea from Streams To The River, Rivers To The Sea. Cole Matthews is a juvenile delinquent who is sent to an island to find inner peace. Ben Mikaelsen, the author of touching spirit bear, has developed the characters by describing every scene, emotion, and thought of Cole. Sacagawea, the
