Text A and Text B are very different text type and also have very few similarities. Although they both mention women’s roles in around the same time period, text A is an advertisement targeting an audience of single men, and text B is an informative article targeting more of the younger generation as the audience. Text A is an informal text whereas text B is written in a formal diction. They have two very different purposes where text A is advertising their fast-food restaurant and text B is informing the evolvement of women’s roles from during to after WW2.

The last few lines of the text in the advertisement, mentions “…then come down to Hardee’s for something sloppy and hastily prepared.” This sentence points out that the purpose is to advertise their restaurant, Hardee’s. Text B, is an informative article which mentions many facts. For example, in paragraph 2, the author mentions “Rosie the Riveter”, and explains who the artist is, and what she stands for. As women’s roles were to stay in the kitchen during this time period, this title would have been catchy to men married or not. Which helps to catch the eye of the target audience. Text A is also written in an informal way, at it uses words such as “little miss” and “sloppy and hastily prepared”. In comparison, text B is written in a formal diction, as there is no use of humor, exaggerated words, or any type of informal language.
