The Tea Act of 1773 reinstated the issue of Britain’s right to tax the colonies. The Parliament and the colonies disagreed on a system of government in which the colonies would share the same rights and control as Parliament over their colonial affairs. Between 1773 and 1776, enormous amounts of tension between the center and the peripheries regarding the right to control the colonies led to the disintegration of the empire. The colonies and Parliament continued their dispute about the supremacy of the colonies that began with the Stamp Act of 1765.
During the American Revolution between 1763 and 1787, it is claimed that the revolution went through distinct stages of greater as well as lesser radicalism. A few events provided impetus for these revolutions: the Reformation, the Industrial Revolution, and the Enlightenment. The Reformation was a religious reform movement that began in the early 1500s and split the Western Christian Church. Fed by not only religious reasons but also by by political and social factors, the transformation provided a source of power for many rulers and shaped European colonial expansion.
Women and African Americans were given more rights such as the right to vote and slavery was abolished after the revolution. Political changes involved Americans truly separating from Britain by destroying any ties they had with the country and it also involved Americans stating their political beliefs and changes which were different from what they were taught by the British. Social changes included Americans viewing blacks and Native Americans as equals
The American Revolution effectively changed American society in social, religious, and economical aspects. The traditional view of women’s roles drastically changed during and after the Revolutionary war of 1779. The culture of domesticity continued to empower women. This idea revolved around women being family oriented.

On the other hand, for Indians, many Loyalists, and the majority of slaves, American independence meant a deprivation of freedom.

The American and French Revolutions were both major fights for independence against oppressive European governments, and the governments formed from these revolutions are widely known as the foundation and start of modern democracy. The American and French Revolutions were different in both how the conflicts originated and how the revolutions were carried out. However, both revolutions inspired many colonies to seek independence from European monarchies and form their own governments, many of which became democracies based on the American and French governments. The United States of America started as a British colony in North America. The distance between North America and Britain led to the colonies forming their own governments and essentially ruling themselves.
The American Revolution was a major turning point in American society due to the political, social and economic reforms instigated after they gained their independence. After breaking away from their mother country, Britain, the Americans formed their ideal society in which the people held more power than the government. During this time women and slaves experienced more freedom within society. Women were allowed to serve in war and many slaves were set free. Because the United States was a new nation who just gained independence, they were still struggling to pay back the war debt thus there were less economic reforms than social and political.
Historians may argue that the inclusion of only white males in this brand-new society makes the American Revolution a failure, but the American Revolution changed the social aspect of the colonies for the better. The change of social status of minorities is not immediate, but the revolution allows for necessary changes to happen in the future. For example, a majority of the north abolished slavery less ten years or even before the end of the revolution. The rest of the north and the slave-dependent south abolish slavery within the next eighty years (Document 5). After the Revolution, women feel they have a voice.
In a perfect democracy, both of these groups should have been able to easily petition the government and have their voices heard equally. The age of social reform in America closely mirrored social reform in Britain, both in time and in subjects. Britain abolished slavery in 1833, and groups of influential women’s suffragists argued for women’s rights much like those in America. The abolitionist and women’s rights movements perhaps drew inspiration from British reforms, and both nations found themselves in similar moral condition after the Revolution. However, America would have a long way to go before these social reforms actually strengthened

Since the eighteenth century, women still try to be equal to men and try to be independent. During the American Revolution, women were dependent on their husband. This meant they had to cook, clean and take care of their children. They were not allowed to do what they wanted.
