The Respiratory and Cardiovascular systems work together in order to complete specific roles in the body. The Respiratory System is composed of specific organs responsible for inhaling oxygen and gas exchange throughout the lungs and body tissues. The Cardiovascular System is a circulatory system that is powered by the hardest working organ in the body ,the heart, it is responsible for moving nutrients, oxygen, cellular waste products ,and hormones. “Oxygen is required for cellular functions”, (Lysis 1). The cardiovascular and respiratory system work together to assure that all organ tissues sustain sufficient oxygen.
In the respiratory system there are three vital components to the system; the passage for the airway, the lungs, and muscles for respiration. The function of the system is to provide oxygen to the cells of the body and removing carbon dioxide. The anatomy of the respiratory airway is composed of the nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles. The physiology of those organs is to transport the oxygen to the two lungs and the outer part of the body. “Each lung is surrounded by a pleural membrane that provides the lungs space

A cardiovascular disorder like a Myocardial Infarction ,also known as heart attack or the widow maker, is when there is a blockage in the coronary arteries. There coronary arteries are the arteries that supply all the muscles in the heart with blood. Another disorder in the cardiovascular system is Atherosclerosis ,which is when the arteries are blocked by cholesterol. When cholesterol blocks the arteries it simply means that fat deposits, cellular waste products or plaque have built up and are clogging the supply of oxygen to cells. The respiratory system has several disorders like Asthma, Bronchitis, Tuberculosis, and Emphysema. Emphysema is when the sacs of air in the lungs ,alveoli, are damaged and break down causing breathlessness
