The election of 1824 was very different than today’s elections. It set the stage for the 1828 Presidential Election to birth the “Modern American Political Campaign.” There were four candidates for the campaign in 1824. They were all from the same party. This prevented all of them from being able to get enough Electoral votes to become President. Jackson was irate when John Quincy Adams was given the presidency. Due to the continued bickering and accusations Adams presidency was hampered in many ways to where he could get very little done.
