The Hero’s Journey in The Hunger Games and the Goonies have a lot of similarities and multiple differences that make them important and stand out in the text. The Call to Adventure, Test/Allies/Enemies, and the Ordeal of each book has its own understanding which means they all have their own meaning behind them. This will show you how the Hero’s Journey can be adapted into any text.

The Call to Adventure

There are many differences and similarities in The Call to Adventure in the Hunger Games, Goonies, and Mortal Engines. But let’s start with the similarities. These are where the climax is in all the stories. In the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta are allies when there are just 3 contestants left. Them and Cato, whom Peeta was in an alliance with. When there are just a few contestants left in the games, The gamemakers send out muttations. Muttations are just creatures that are built like wolves, except they are more ferocious. They are tagged with names and districts of all the fallen tributes like Rue and Glimmer. They maul Cato while Katniss and Peeta are sitting in a tree. Once Cato is almost a piece of meat, Katniss uses her last arrow to shoot Cato in the head and kills him. The rule change was that if the last 2 tributes are from the same district, both would win the victory. The Capitol reversed this decision and Katniss tried to eat Nightlock berries and that would kill you. When she popped them in her mouth, the decision was reversed again. Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games. In the Goonies, Mikey and his friends minus Chunk find Willys treasure and they then get caught by the Fratellis. Everyone is doing their best to fight them off. Then Sloth and Chunk venture into the cave. Sloth let’s Mikey and his friends out but traps the Fratellis and escapes the cave and meets back up with their parents. During the reunion, the Fratellis escape the cave and are quickly arrested.
