This week Assignment is very interesting. I really enjoyed reading both Hawthorne and Poe’s story. They both have used the symbolism in a different effect. I am comparing the uses of symbolism Hawthorne’s “The Minister’s Black Veil, and “The Birth-Mark” Poe’s “The Raven” and "The Cask of Amontillado". Hawthorne and Poe they both have worked and used the symbolism in different ways. They both have identified their character through the creative use of symbolism. Hawthorne uses the deeper meaning of his symbol. The Hawthorne’s best story “The Minister's Black Veil”, and “The Birthmark” was considered to be one of his great works. Hawthorne is a writer who focuses on both the good and bad in life. As I was reading the book “The Minister’s Black Veil” have mentioned the color’s symbolism. The color black represent the negative things in our life. F0r example, people think that if a black cat cross the way your are walking, that symbolize as a bad luck day, which means that something bad is going to happen to that person. So black symbolism represent bad luck. I also think that color veil represents the secrecy. “The Minister Black Veil” it is about the church minister who comes into town with the veil over his lips.
