All they wanted was to have equal rights. Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta were great leaders in the Mexican Community as well as in the field community, because they worked together to make a change for farm workers. They did not have money, but what they did have was the will to change the way rich white owners were treating the farm workers. Thousands of farm workers joined what Cesar Chavez created National Farm Workers Association (NFWA). This organization was a way for farm workers to join the cause and fight for their human rights in the fields.
By coming up with unique ideas such as providing farmers with a credit union and life insurance, Chavez was able to attract people from all over to join his movement. It was not until that the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) lead by Lary Itliong was the movement to take shape and move forward with their message. The viewers get a sense of the of the struggle that farm workers had to endure during the 1960’s to gain fair treatment, and that the only way that this movement was going to be successful was to put aside their differences and work together through non-violent

Both farmers and industrial workers have similar positive responses in the Gilded Age from their profits increasing and better conditions. However, in the Gilded Age, farmers were the victims of the government policy and the industrial workers were in poorly conditions than before. Therefore, both farmers and industrial workers have different negative viewpoints in the Gilded Age, yet similar towards how were they treated and get the outcome. The Gilded Age affected the farmers economic profits and a dramatic shift where they are the victims of their own government policies. After the end of the Civil War and the Reconstruction period, Americans changed over time from rural agriculture farmers and into the urban industrial workers.

In 1962 the United Farm Workers Union (UFW) was created to secure worker rights for the underserved farmworker in California. Founded by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, their vision for the UFW was simple; to provide farmworkers and other working people with the inspiration and the necessary tools to succeed and secure equal worker rights in the hope to obtain their share in society’s bounty. The UFW’s belief in Integrity, Innovation, Empowerment, and Non-Violence, became the backbone for the Si Se Puede attitude. Si Se Puede represented the face and core values of the UFW and its farmworker movement. With many farmworkers being denied a fair working wage and a decent work environment, the UFW formed and initiated its farmworker movement by
The late 1800’s and early 1900’s was an era of industrialization and progressive reform. The Progressive era was a time where the people gathered and not only demanded change, but worked for it. There was a great amount of corruption between buisness and politics; and the working conditions for the common man were ghastly and for all intents and purposes inhumane. In the end progressives made huge strides in redefining the meaning of equality and improving the social, political and economic problems in American society.
It also highlights the need for better treatment and rights for farmworkers. Additionally, after the long-lasting efforts of Chavez in 1975 the Agricultural Labor Relations became a law in California. “Farmworkers are protected by union contracts, we have made progress in overcoming child labor, in overcoming miserable wages and working conditions, in overcoming sexual harassment of women workers, in overcoming discrimination in employment, in overcoming dangerous pesticides” (Chavez lines 106-109). This quote shows the improvement in farmworkers conditions due to union contracts, these advancements include protection against miserable wages, working conditions, sexual harassment of woman workers and in overcoming dangerous pesticides along with significantly more injustices farmworkers had faced on their environmental working conditions. Unions have played a crucial role in achieving these positive changes for farmworkers.
They sought what so many groups before them sought: better treatment, better pay and better work conditions. César Estrada Chávez was an important figure head behind this movement and his loyalty and dedication to this cause has made him an icon. The late César Chávez played an integral
This organization focused on fighting for farm workers’ rights, even if that meant going to extremes. Another great quality a leader should harness is the ability to attract followers, and Cesar Chavez was great at this. Through many speeches and demonstrations, he was able to persuade many farm workers to join his cause. In one of his many inspirational speeches, he told the angry farmworkers that ¨we are not slaves and we are not animals. And we are not alone¨ (The Union and the Strike,

Throughout the history of the United States, there generally have been dozens of particularly social movements, which is fairly significant. From the African American Civil Rights Movement in 1954 to the feminism movement in 1920, protests for all intents and purposes have helped these groups basically earn rights and fight injustice in a really major way. Some injustices that these groups face range from lack of voting rights to police brutality, or so they essentially thought. The indigenous people of North America aren’t actually immune to these injustices, basically contrary to popular belief. Back in the 1968, the American Indian Movement generally was formed to for all intents and purposes give natives security and peace of mind in a
The American Indians appealed their case to anyone who would listen in order to gain as much support as possible for the Free Leonard Peltier Movement. They shifted their movement from being more individual-focused to being more collective-focused by making it about general American Indian activism (CITE ARTICLE). This created a sense of community with everyone fighting for the Red Power Movement thereby increasing the manpower that the movement had. More activists equals more noise which then leads to more attention toward their movement especially from people who were unaware of the movement. This was accomplished by identifying their movement, creating a need for justice, and finally, making the call to action.
