People have always painted America to be ‘the new world’--a world that brings and provides many great things to its people. Unlike the painted perspective of this nation, when found, the differences are astounding. Thomas Paine, a pamphleteer wrote a book called “The Rights of Man,” and emphasizes that while America has many attributes that should not work to create a stable country--such as how the people come from all over the world, how there are many languages spoken, the people follow a ton of different religions, and simply the difference in the people--it does work out very well, and it also creates a very amazing new type of place. During the 1700s, America may have been great, and Thomas Paine may have had correct ideas about the reality of America, but now, hundreds of years later, modern-day America is not the same and many parts of it have completely changed for the worse. While Paine paints an image of America as an amazing, safe, and fair nation, our country is nothing like that anymore. Our country oppresses the poor. Our country has countless numbers of rich privileged individuals. Our country's government is not just and is falling apart because it is losing the support of the people in it. In society, there are upper, middle, and lower classes based on the amount of wealth one possesses. The upper class has significantly more opportunities than those in the lower classes, giving them certain privileges. This idea is particularly evident in schooling. Large colleges and private schools are not even close to a reasonable price for the average American to afford. They are so expensive that it is almost as if they are only meant for people with money. One large, well-known, and rich family is the Kardashians. Kris Jenner, the mom of six well-known celebrities, Kimberly Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Rob Kardashian, raised her kids in Beverly Hills and sent them all to a private “high school that has a current annual tuition of over $39,000” (The shorter). This price is almost equivalent to college tuition for two, three, or four years. In all, it costs Kris about $234,000 to send all her children to school for a single year. Many families do not make this money or have this money, so for Kris to be able to send all six of her children to this private high school, and be able to easily pay for it, shows the benefits that being rich has for a family, as one has access to more privileges and opportunities.
