Disappointments to inspirations Muggsy Bogues was a NBA point guard who was listed as five feet three inches and he weighed one-hundred thirty-three pounds. The average height for an point guard is six feet three inches and the average weight is around one-hundred ninety pounds. People looked at him wondering, “How is this guy in the NBA?” Muggsy showed many people that he could play basketball at a high level despite his height. Doodle started doing things like crawling, but backwards when he was a baby, but the doctor said the strain of sitting up could kill him because of his weak heart. As Doodle got older, he started doing more and more normal things like running, walking, and swimming. The Sniper and the Scarlet Ibis are similar because they both involve the main character’s brothers. The difference between these two is that in The Sniper the brother is barely mentioned. We later discover that the other sniper the main character shot was his brother in the end. In the Scarlet Ibis the brother was mentioned throughout the story and was actually one of the main characters.
When you read these two stories, they are both involved in war. The first story is named, "The Sniper" and "Cranes" is the name of the second story. The author of the first story "The Sniper" is Liam O ' Flaherty. The author of the second story "Cranes" is Hwang Sunwon. Even though "The Sniper" and "Cranes" share a common topic about war, there are other different aspects.
The protagonists in The Sniper and The Scarlet Ibis both had a special relationship with their brother. In the first story the sniper and his brother were on different sides. The republican sniper shot his brother who was on the freestaters side. He didn't know it was his brother so I'm sure he felt bad.

Brother, the main character of the short story, "The Scarlet Ibis," proves himself to have a double sided personality. On one hand, Brother can be characterized as mean and harsh. The author portrays this behavior when Brother neglectfully tries to shape Doodle into his image despite his clear inability. On the other hand, Brother can be characterized as nice and caring. This personality is shown through his motivation and pride in Doodle due to his accomplishments.

Doodle cannot walk properly and is weak because he was born as a caul baby. His body is a reddish hue and shriveled like an old man. He cannot do many things but he loves his brother with all his heart.
Despite all the horrors that they face, the small family shares a deep connection. This allows for meaning and value in their lives amid all the suffering and pain. The existence of this relationship makes the struggle worthwhile. Many of the days the man and boy spend together they are working toward a common goal, the man teaching the boy about many things and the kid teaching his father to not leave the other good guys behind. In the story “Scarlet Ibis,” the narrator is flawed in his inability to let go of his desire to have a normal brother. The narrator has a little brother named Doodle, with an extreme amount of disabilities. Before Doodle was born, the narrator fantasized about having a little brother who would be his playmate. Doodle, however, was not the ideal brother. He could not walk or do much on his own.

Pride always invades the weak bond between the two brothers and leads them to a tragic end.
