According to Doc C, by 622-632, Islam spread to as far as Medina. This shows that people who follow Islamic culture, will try to go to the ends of the world to show people how awesome their religion is. Lastly, another way that trade spread was by invasion

Why did the Islamic belief spread so quickly? Well, within 140 years, Muslims had established an empire that controlled the middle east and expanded across North Africa into Europe. The spread of Islam went from a small religious group mostly on the Arabian peninsula to a huge religion that took over almost the entire middle east. No one knows exactly how Islam spread so quickly.
Islam started to spread by first using conquest as their major option. Though as time went on and more people started to follow the Muslim religion, a different method was occurring that also contributed to spreading the Islam belief. Vocabulary and language are such major parts of this world. Without the spread of it through trade, it could very well be diminished. The Islamic trade industry was so monumental that they were able to retain knowledge and spread a religion that would become one of the largest religions in the modern world.
Foltz states that “the expansion of a particular religions rule is not identical with the spread of faith” (Foltz 91). The Islamic faith did not originally spread through proselytization, but through economic and political power. After the 8th century, Muslims controlled almost all of the trans-Asian trade (Foltz 91) Due to the growing religion of Islam, people began to convert for not only spiritual reasons, but economic reasons as well. Being Muslim at the time would have brought new advantages, such as being part of the “ruling group”, and better commercial activity.

Islam and Christianity eventually had many similar attitudes towards merchants up to the 1500’s such as they both valued honest trade. Where their attitudes differed, however, was when it came to the status of a merchant due to the fact that the Quran praised it, whereas the Bible started disfavoring merchantry as an occupation. Islam and Christianity rose similarly, as they’re both Abrahamic religions (meaning the two faith’s are centered around Abraham being the first prophet). Because of this fact, we can see many other correlations with how both of these beliefs treat others, such as merchants.

Christians had their own negative beliefs as to why merchants weren’t as valuable; Muslims had positive points toward trade because Muhammad, their founder was a wealthy merchant.

There was different types of leaders throughout this process who each had their own effect on the religion as a whole.
