Though they take place in different places, many similarities are seen when comparing Cool Hand Luke with Cuckoo’s Nest. This is seen when Both Mcmurphy and Luke get looked up to by their peers, when Luke and Mcmurphy are in confined space, controlled by a leader, and when they eventually rise up and go against the rulers! First I will talk about how Mcmurphy and Luke are the same.
Marigolds by Eugenia W. Collier and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are very similar in their settings and moods. For example, in Marigolds the narrator indicates that all she can remember from her hometown is dust and poverty, which shows this was during the Great Depression. This is similar to, To Kill a Mockingbird, because it also takes place during the Great Depression, this displays they have similar settings. Another example is, the mood in Marigolds is very depressing, you get this mood because the narrator says things like, “I suppose the futile waiting was the sorrowful background music of our impoverished little community.” The mood is like this in To Kill a Mockingbird as well.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Christmas Carol are two very similar stories. In the stories A Christmas Carol and How The Grinch Stole Christmas, there are two characters who are a good example of this. A Christmas Carol is a story about a grumpy old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who only cares about money and needs to be taught a lesson. The story teaches a very good lesson, and modern authors still draw from it’s storyline. They also draw from the lessons it teaches while people read it.
There are many movies and books that have tons of similarities and differences. I choosed A Series of Unfortunate Events, because of the nail biting moments that are in the book and movie. Plus,and you just want to know what happened. They both have many differences, but not many similarities. Some of the differences are very big changes and might make you like the other one more.
The Lottery is a short story about a town of people that will crowd and all the men will get a slip of paper all the paper is blank… besides one and that one has a black dot, so a lucky person will get it and if they have a kid older than 16 they have play this game, anyway the winner will get a “prize”. The Lottery story and The Lottery movie have many things that were different. The Lottery story is different from The Lottery movie by where it is located and where the event took place, such as in the story they were sacrificing someone in a large field while in the movie they were stopped by the building. If they didn’t have the building in the way she could have lived longer while if they did she would have died sooner.
The musical also gives the audience more to think about with its different viewpoint of “The Wicked Witch” and how she isn’t so wicked which can be taken into the context of our everyday lives with the people around us. In conclusion, The Wizard of Oz and Wicked are both very well known broadway musicals. The Wizard of Oz and Wicked each have their own story, but have the same underlying concept of the fantasy world of Oz and the tale of the Wicked Witches who live in it. One very significant similarity is that in both books the characters are trapped on an island and fighting for their safety and survival. In Lord of the Flies, school boys, Ralph, Roger, Simeon, Piggy, Jack and along with other kids are trapped on an island and have to fight for survival, but, after a while of being on the island the civilization starts to die and so do the boys from violence and lack of communication.

In a similar way bryan from The Breakfast Club experiences suicidal thoughts, due to the pressure of his parents and the ability to keep up with life.
The Wizard of Oz has revealed to be an exceptionally well thought out film when analysed. The film has made use of stylistic elements such as colour, light, sound and mise-en-scene which coincide with the various twists and turns of the plot as Dorothy moves from Kansas, to Oz, and back again. In The Wizard of Oz, the directors have employed the use of different unique editing techniques despite being an early film. It is obvious that the audience is able to notice the absence of colour in the beginning and ending of the film. The audience is able to identify the mood and overall feeling for Dorothy when she is in her family farm in Kansas.
