Education From a Technical College Versus a State University
A technical college and a state university provide you with tools and prepare you for careers, but as I have experienced, they are very different. When I compare a technical college to a state university; generally speaking, I think that a technical college is better. When you take in consideration their registration process, class size, and preparation for the workforce, students who want to enter into a good career field, and find a job upon graduation, education from a technical school is better than a state university.
As a new student the enrollment and registration process can be challenging, overwhelming I must say. Depending on the school, on a technical college you are assigned to an advisor. You meet with your advisor before enrolling into courses, each semester. This will help you to make sure you are aware of all the program’s requirements. This has several benefits as a student. You get to know all your classmates and your professor knows you by name. In a small class you have more opportunities for participation, whether is with a question or a comment. Both are very important during the learning process. Also, when your professor or instructor knows you chances are that they are there to help you understand the material, and concepts instead of just evaluating you with a test and see you fail. This translates to success for you as a student and a future worker. While the size on a technical college is small on a big university you could be taking a chemistry or any other science courses on an amphitheater with hundred of students. This leaves class’ participation to minimal or zero, you become a number to your professor, and most likely your professor not even know if you pass or fail your tests and
